Quilted fabrics come in a variety of styles, colours, materials and weights, all providing many both practical and stylistic qualities. Quilted fabrics are fabrics composed of wadding sandwiched between two layers of outer materials to form one thick and durable fabric. Various different types of waddings offer different levels of heat retention; the wadding often varies in weight and thickness and is held in place by stitching that covers both the outer fabric and the wadding.

As spring draws to a close and summer begins our range of fabrics is updated. Our selection of summer fabrics are great for many practical and decorative uses and come in a huge range of colours and styles. As well as an expanding our selection of colours for the season we’ve now expanded our range to some more lightweight and breathable fabrics perfect for use in warmer temperatures. Fire retardant fabrics for commercial and domestic safety and displays

Fire retardant fabrics are refer to fabrics that require a treatment to reduces the chance of catching a flame, where in normal circumstances it would burn. We have CRIB 5 upholstery , BS 5867 curtain and BS 5852 drape fabrics. We also stock inherently fire retardant fabrics in a variety of different widths and colours. Inherently fire retardant fabrics are of the highest quality which can be washed and dry cleaned without losing the fire retardant. Much of the exhibition, Stage, wedding and theatre industry uses these fabrics in great abundance.

Origin of Hessian fabrics and its uses

Hessian fabrics are coarse, woven fabrics composed of natural fibres, most frequently from the jute plant. Often referred to as burlap, Hessian fabrics can be made from jute, cotton and sisal fibres, giving the fabrics different weaves varying from tight to very visibly open. Although the origins of Hessian and its original uses are very old, in recent years the production of Hessian has modernised with Hessian fabrics being produced in a variety of colours, densities and even with fire retardant coatings. Our range of Hessian comes in brightly coloured jutes, tightly woven cotton, fire retardant and classic natural Hessian popularly used for industrial sacks.
