Types of waterproof fabrics

There are a number of different waterproof fabric types that we stock. The Cordura in our range is very strong and used for items that need to be durable. Often used on luggage and workwear, Cordura is known for its abrasion resistance and high strength as well as possessing fire resistant qualities and varying weights. Cordura is made of nylon but often blended with other fibres, and known to be strong so maintain their shape extremely. Similarly, our waterproof cotton canvas is extremely durable and abrasion resistant and exposure to extreme weather, while cotton canvas also possesses rot proof qualities, making it a very long lasting fabric. The along with woven waterproof fabrics we also have a range of PVC and leatherette available. Our PVC and leatherette come in a variety of colours and textures and are perfect for use on both indoor and outdoor products.

PVC and leatherette tend to be of a higher density and weight and, similarly to many of our waterproof fabrics, also possess fire retardant qualities which enhances their safety. Our waterproof fabrics also come in a wide range of different weights and densities, including lightweight fabrics which are extremely comfortable to wear, along with heavyweight fabrics which a have a number of protective uses.

The properties of our selection of waterproof fabrics is very diverse. Some of our heavier weight fabrics retain their shape extremely well due to their weight and thickness, while our lighter weight range are breathable to wear while keeping the effects of the elements at bay. The huge range of finishes also mean waterproof fabrics can feel soft and comfortable on the skin. Many of our waterproof fabrics are also fire retardant meaning they are also both practical and incredibly safe to use on many items.

Additionally, Cordura, along with cotton canvas and our other lightweight fabrics are perfect use on outdoor furnishings, tents, tarpaulins and outdoor clothes due to their light weight and breathable qualities. If you need something thicker and of a more heavy weight, some of our higher density waterproof fabrics such as our PVC and leatherette are very versatile and are perfect for making both indoor and outdoor products including furniture and high quality and aesthetically pleasing upholstery. Our PVC is also very suitable for both practical and visually pleasing clothing including outdoor jackets for wet and windy conditions, and long lasting fashion items and costumes. Pet products are also a very popular use for our waterproof fabrics due to their high strength.
